Over the last few months I have been working with an adult male client aged 35 years who sought out my help for on going and unresolved emotional issues, which included stress, muscular tension and pain, feelings of fear especially with the opposite sex and anxiety. In the beginning I used deep bodywork and Primal therapy techniques to help him depth his feelings and gain deeper insight to his emotional issues. As we progressed in therapy I decided to run him through the Intelligence Integration training program to check the functional ability of his motor and sensory system and how it might help explain his high level of anxiety.
To his amazement he was unable to successfully or smoothly perform the exercises I had asked him to do and he was profoundly aware of a significantly huge build up of tension and anxiety. He told me the more I pushed him to perform the exercises the more anxiety he experienced. He was moved to deep emotions when I explained to him that his anxiety that he had lived with for most of his life was more than likely connected to the fact that his physical/motor system was not functioning at an optimum level. This, coupled with his sensory system being unable to filter and modulate the sensory input from the environment, created huge anxiety levels.
He has been doing the training program and a specially designed Meditation the (Grey Meditation) at home on a daily basis for the last five weeks and has had great results in reducing his stress and anxiety levels. He reports that he very rarely gets anxious and feels more grounded. It was a great learning curve for me also. It helped me to understand on a deeper level, the importance of the co-ordination of the motor and sensory system and optimum physical functioning in a human being, understanding that his issue was more of a physiological one rather than a psychological one.
